Survey on postharvest grain handling in FLAR breeding programs
The survey on on post-harvest handling of grain was directed to the breeding programs of the FLAR network members with the objective of knowing the methods they use in the different post-harvest stages, as a measure that allows following up on the milling process, a factor that contributes on mill yield and its possible impact on milling quality results.
The survey was carried out in 2021 with the participation of 21 member institutions of the network of strategic allies of FLAR and the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, in 15 countries of the region. This is a descriptive survey, applied to obtain information on the industrial processes of the grain linked to rice quality. The survey was based on the opinion of 27 experts from rice improvement programs of these institutions. Nonetheless, the survey is not necessarily a reflection of the point of view of the institutions, or of the countries they represent.
